The District Administration, Niuland and the Census Department held a Consultative and Awareness meeting on Census 2027, at DC’s Conference Hall, Niuland on 9th July 2026.
Deputy Commissioner Niuland, T L Kiusumong Tikhir, while addressing the gathering stated, the ongoing House Listing Operation (HLO) which is the first phase of the census 2027 are being operating through the sketch map of every ward/colony presented by the Census Department in consultation with the concerned village leaders and urged the public leaders to co-operate with the census officials for a successful census in the district.
DC, also clarified that the purpose of the census is solely for the individual head count and nothing to do with the electorate, delimitation, Addhaar Card or Pan Card. In regards to the confusion whether to enroll in the present residing or their native villages, the DC clarified that according to census rules, any citizens who have reside in a particular place for more than 6 months should enroll in his/her present residing rather than his/her native village.
Vikishe Chishi, Deputy Director, Census Department also highlighted the role of Enumerators and Supervisors and urged public leaders to coordinate with the public and come out with the accurate dada.
Chairperson of the Niuland Town Council, Hovishe, Village Head GBs, Ward GBs, President of Niuland Town Students’ Union, Niuland Town Sumi Totimi Loka, Niuland Citizens Forum and Niuland Town Public Organisation attended the meeting.
