In view of the lockdown necessitated by outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, the Dimapur District Administration in collaboration with various NGOs has been distributing free food packets and providing home delivery of essential commodities to stranded students, destitute people, etc throughout the district. 

DC Dimapur Anoop Khinchi in a press release stated that 221 people in DDSC relief camp, 44 stranded passengers in Youth Hostel and 82 people in State Sports Hostel are being provided regular meals through the Community Kitchen initiative and 700-800 people are provided food packets and rations of essential commodities on a daily basis through the Community Kitchen and Food Bank initiatives. It was also mentioned that on 6th April 2020, as part of the Community Kitchen programme Nagaland People's Party (NPP) and all Nagaland Private School Association (ANPSA) donated rations of essential commodities to students of Dimapur Eastern Naga Students Union (DENSU) stranded in Dimapur and 135 students residing in Nagaland University (NU) Hostels in Medziphema. Further around 100 students in Dimapur town were given relief of essential commodities and distributed through the Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU).
