Information has been received from the Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, Assam, Indian Meteorological Department (Ministry of Earth Science), Government of India, vide, Impact Based Forecast for Nagaland, dated 24.10.2022 (1300 Hrs. IST) and Special Weather Bulletin, dated 24.10.2022, concerning Heavy Rainfall activity over Nagaland during 24-26 October 2022, due to the Cyclonic Storm ‘SITRANG’ over west central & adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal.

The IMD has issued a forecast of the probable impact of the cyclone, which includes, poor visibility, traffic disruption due to water logging & uprooting of trees, landslides, flash floods, damage to power and communication lines, damage to standing crops, lightning and damage to vulnerable structures like hoardings, tents and display board, etc.

Therefore, all District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) and concerned departments have been directed to be prepared and vigilant for any eventualities including disruption to normal services and activities in their respective districts and/or in their respective departmental area of concern, and all Citizens of the State have been advised to take the following suggested actions during these periods for their safety:

  1. Follow traffic advisories issued, if any.
  2. Avoid going to areas that face water logging problems/riverfront.
  3. Avoid staying in vulnerable structures/landslide-prone areas.
  4. Provide proper drainage in the cropped field if heavy rainfall is expected.
  5. Be Updated.

 

Any person violating any order/direction under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, will be liable for action under the relevant section of law.
