A two-day orientation on potential computerized PACS (Primary Agriculture Credit Societies) organized by the Registrar of Cooperatives Societies commenced on 3rd September, 2025 at Cooperative Training Centre, Medziphema.
Gracing the occasion as the guest of honour, Orenthung Lotha, Commissioner and Secretary for IPR and Co-operation Department stated the benefits of the computerization of PACS, beside serving the purpose of financial inclusion and strengthening service delivering to farmers, will become a nodal service delivering point for various services and the provision of inputs like fertilizers and seeds etc.
He also emphasized on the key aspects of the orientation programme, and said it’s an initiative of the Government of India vision to make PACS self-reliant and align with broader goal of prosperity through cooperatives societies.
Orenthung also traced back to the history of cooperatives movement as it is the backbone of India, where 29 crore people directly involved in cooperative movement in India. He also explained in detail its aims, objectives and its diverse activities and the need of PACS is computerization. He urged all the Co-operatives Societies present to give full concentration, specially the educated intellectuals to actively participate in the co-operative society.
He also requested the gathering to spread co-operative knowledge to the people and lauded the societies and officers. He also urged to upgrade their skills in their profession to bring positive results in the process of promoting co-operative movement in the state.
The programme was chaired by Chubamenla, Principal CTC with a keynote address from Akangjongshi, Deputy RCS and short speech by Jonah Sema, G.M NSCB Ltd. 44 Cooperatives societies and 12 SRCS, ICS, ARCS, attended the programme. The programme will culminate on 4th September 2025.
