A preparatory meeting was held on 25th July 2025 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Peren, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Hiazu Meru, to discuss the arrangements for the forthcoming Independence Day Celebration on 15th August 2025. The DC welcomed the members present and thanked them for their presences.
The following key agendas were discussed during the meeting: Work distribution among departments for effective coordination, finalization of parade contingents, setting up of exhibition stalls at the celebration venue and vehicle assistance to be provided for parade contingents and cultural troupes to ensure their smooth transportation for practice sessions and on the celebration day.
As part of the Independence Day preparations, it was also decided to conduct a mass social work on 8th August 2025, starting at 9:00 AM, covering the area from the DC Office Complex to the Rest House. All departments and stakeholders were requested to extend their cooperation and participate actively in the drive.
In addition, all parade contingents were instructed to carry out their practice sessions at their respective campuses, while the final combined rehearsal will be held on 13th August 2025 at the DC Office Complex, Peren. It was also decided that, all arrangements, including rehearsals, exhibition stalls, venue setup, and other logistics, must be completed by 14th August 2025 to ensure a smooth and successful conduct of the celebration.
The meeting witnessed participation from key stakeholders, including officials from various government departments, the Commandant of 9 Assam Rifles, Jalukie, Commandant of 9 NAP (IR), Saijang, and heads of educational institutions such as Peren Government College, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Jalukie, Sainik School, Punglwa, Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Peren, All Saints Higher Secondary School, Peren, and Baptist Higher Secondary School, Peren.
