Chief Medical Officer, Wokha launched the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA), Healthy Women, Empowered Families Campaign (SNSPA) on 17th September 2025 at Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital’s Conference Hall, Wokha.

Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Vineet Kumar IAS, as the Chief Guest, in his address spoke on the challenges faced by such campaigns, including lack of awareness, limited resources, logistical constraints in reaching remote areas, and general reluctance among certain sections of the population. He stressed that the campaign must intensify its focus on the health of women and children, and called upon all line departments associated with the initiative to extend their full cooperation and support. He further noted that sustained community engagement and inter-departmental coordination is the key to the campaign’s success.

The keynote address for SNSPA was delivered by DPO (RMNCAH+N), Wokha, Dr. Thungchanpeni Patton. She elaborated on the detailed framework of the campaign, its core objectives, and the specific target groups involved. Her presentation highlighted the importance of early intervention, preventive care, and the need for inclusive outreach.

The welcome address was presented by Chief Medical Officer, Wokha, Dr. Thungchanbemo Ezung, who expressed gratitude to all stakeholders and emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts in improving public health outcomes. The vote of thanks was delivered by DPM (NHM) Mhonbeni Ezung, acknowledging the presence and contributions of all dignitaries, officials, and participants.

Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, launched nationally on 17th September 2025, is India’s largest women and child health mobilisation campaign. It is jointly led by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Women & Child Development (MoWCD), and is integrated with Poshan Maah 2025. The initiative aims to deliver comprehensive health services across the country through more than one lakh health camps.

Key objectives of the campaign include early detection and treatment of non-communicable diseases, cancer, tuberculosis, anaemia, and sickle cell disease; promotion of nutrition awareness, menstrual hygiene, mental well-being, and healthy lifestyle practices; delivery of specialist services in gynaecology, paediatrics, eye care, ENT, dental, dermatology, and psychiatry; and maternal and child health interventions such as antenatal care, growth monitoring, immunisation, and nutrition support.

The launch event in Wokha marked a significant step toward strengthening community health systems and reaffirmed the district’s commitment to the national vision of empowering families through healthier women.
