World Environment Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 5th June 2023 at Pathso Nokeng village, Noklak district. The event was organized by Bamboo School in collaboration with Pathso Nokeng Students' Union (PNSU) and supported by North East Network (NEN), to raise awareness about environmental issues and promote sustainable practices.

The event was hosted by K Muchu, Field Coordinator at NEN. Short speeches were delivered on tackling plastic pollution under the campaign #beatplasticpollution by EAC Panso, Echungbemo Euri, and Pongsa, a concerned citizen of the village.

Echungbemo Euri connected the audience with his insightful talk on how the area can be maintained free from plastic pollution. He shared that the area is still more or less free from plastic pollution due to less urbanization and developmental activities. He encouraged the gatherings to start sincere practice as a way of life for the preservation of the environment. He suggested some practices, like doing away with one-use plastic bags and adopting eco-friendly habits. He emphasized the urgent need to adopt sustainable alternatives and reduce plastic consumption to protect the planet. Meanwhile, Pongsa presented a comprehensive explanation of the theme, the effects of pollution on the environment, both living and non-living beings, and the need for environmental preservation.

Following the informative session, a plantation drive was conducted, where volunteers from Bamboo School, Pathso Nokeng Students' Union, and concerned citizens participated by planting indigenous and locally available saplings.
