International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was held at Dimapur on 26th June 2023. To commemorate this programme, a Rally cum Marathon from DC Court Junction to City Tower was organized by the District Level Narcotics Coordination Committee Dimapur under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner & NCORD Chairperson, Sachin Jaiswal IAS.
DC said it was a very important occasion that is being celebrated every year under the aegis of the United Nations and very important for Dimapur and Nagaland as lots of reports were found from the transit borders. "Especially the youngsters and the youth should be aware bout this Drugs and substance abuse and for this proposal, we are celebrating this day so that the message will be delivered about the I’ll effect of drugs," he added. He also noted that support should be given to the drug users because there are lot of stigma associated with them and society as a whole should support them and mainstream them back into the society where it should be our responsibility.
In this program, more than 150 participated alongside ADC, EAC, DCP, ADCP, Social Welfare officials, 42 Assam Riffles Jawans, the Police Department, Prodigal Home (Rehap), NGOs, and Schools, and some Colleges like Cornerstone, Dimapur Higher Secondary School, St. Mary’s, Ram Janaki, etc
