International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was celebrated at PBCA Convention Hall Longleng on 26th June 2023, with Dr. Pritpal Kaur IPS, SP Longleng as special guest. The programme was organised by PBCA, Longleng Police, Longleng District Users Network and Yingli Mission Society.

SP, Longleng started a livelihood training programme for drug users a month back in coordination with Longleng District Users Network headed by Shahshing, where they were taught to make handicrafts and mudaa (traditional wooden chair) along with rehabilitation treatment.

Dr. Pritpal Kaur emphasized on effective intel collection for drugs raids and urged all the NGOs to save the society from this slow poison and to work together. Students should learn to say ‘No’ against drug abuse and focus on their career, and work hard to build a more progressive society. She explained the legal systems and effects of drugs like SP Capsules, Brown sugar, Yaba, Sunflower etc.

Short speeches were also delivered by PBCA, Executive Secretary, Tialemba, Mano, President, Phomla Hoichem Dape, President, Phom Students Conference and Atula Jamir, OST Centre.

Programme was attended by all Village Council Chairmen, Ward Chairmen, Church Pastors, PSC, PBCA, Drug Users Network, Phomla Hoichem, Yingli Mission, Longleng Police, Longleng Town public and all NGOs, where everyone resolved to work together against the menace of drug abuse.
