International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was also observed in Shamator, organised by the District Administration, NCORD, District Hub for Empowerment of Women, and Department of Social Welfare on 26th June 2025 at Town  Hall, Shamator with Deputy Commissioner, Chubatemjen as the Special Guest.

The event was aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of drug-free society, and also to promote empowerment of young girls as a crucial element in building resilient communities. The event was marked by enthusiastic participation from students, youths and women’s organization and various awareness and cultural programs were held under the overarching theme of “Breaking the Chains: Prevention, Treatment and Recovery for All”.

Representatives from each organizing department also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the critical need to combat drug abuse and illicit trafficking. The program began with an invocation, followed by welcome remarks from Athrong, SDO (C).

The Pledge was administered by Additional SP Shamator, Imlinungsang. Topic on prevention, treatment and recovery was shared by Dr. Ezra Anar, MO CHC Shamator, while topic on NDPS procedure provision was proposed by S Birila Brianna, empanelled lawyer Nasha Mukt. Later, NMBA master volunteers were launched by Deputy Commissioner, Chubatemjen, and PowerPoint Presentation on awareness of various components of Mission Shakti was highlighted by Thsanthong, DMC, DHEW. The program culminated with a vote of thanks offered by Kudazo Swuro, EAC Shamator.
