It was celebrated at Town Hall Tuensang on 1st October 2022. Kumar Ramnikant Deputy Commissioner Tuensang was the special guest at the celebration. The celebration was organized by District Welfare Department Tuensang and the Health and Family welfare department conducted a Special health camp while the DLSA and Judicial Magistrate conducted free legal advice for the older person and new registration for the Adhaar Card was also conducted on the spot.

T. Amenla Sangtam was awarded oldest lady and Longkhangba Yimkhiung was awarded oldest man in the programme.

Speaking on the occasion Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant lamented that this day should be called International Wiser Persons Day rather than calling it as International Older Persons Day to avoid the negative connotations of the celebration. He also appreciated the welfare department for coming up with a convergence programme with Medical, DLSA, and Adhaar registration programmes during the celebration. He also appreciated the strong community fabric of Nagas as compared to that of others which gives better treatment to the older section of people where he also advised them to follow the aged old tradition without abandoning it.

Cheliam Khiamniungan Secretary DSLA cum Judicial Magistrate First Class Tuensang also presented an awareness speech on “Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizen Act 2007" where she highlighted the jurisdictions of this act which guarantees legal rights and its remedial power exclusively for the senior and aged citizen of the country.

Impongsoted President UTELU, in his short speech, spoke on the idea of making ID Card for senior citizens and he also requested the Deputy Commissioner for the allotment of one office cabin for UTELU on completion of the newly constructed DC Office Building.

BYE Khiamniungan Baptist Church Tuensang presented a special number in the function while Rev Sangkap Pastor Tuensang Town Baptist Lashong conducted a special prayer for the older people in the programme.

Moa Longkhumer District Welfare Officer Tuensang addressed a welcome note in the programme while Thsapongcham Sangtam Inspector DWO gave the vote of thanks in the programme and Temjenjungshi Sangtam chaired the programme.

Pastor Sangtam Baptist Church invoked God's presence in the programme and Pastor DEF Church Tuensang conducted a benediction prayer during the programme.
