Social Welfare Department Shamator observed its first-ever International Day of Older Persons on 1st October 2025 at Cultural Hall, Shamator under the Theme: "Older Persons Driving Local and Global Action: Our Aspirations, Well Being, Our Rights"

District Programme Officer Renchano Odyuo gave a welcome and keynote address.

Meanwhile, the Distinguished Senior Citizen Award was presented to Rev. A. Thrunso Yimchunger and T. Youngkila Yimchunger for their outstanding contribution to the district and the society.

Mekato. J. Aye, the theme speaker, expressed gratitude towards the Department for organising such a program to elevate and recognise our senior citizens, he also thanked all the senior citizens of Shamator for being more responsible by contributing wisdom in building up the town.
