Padma Shree Awardee and former Member UPSC, Dr. P. Kilemsungla, graced the International Women's Day celebration as the special guest at The Heritage, Kohima on 8th March 2023.

In her address, Dr. P. Kilemsungla emphasized on young promising girls who will enter motherhood in the future and how their hard work will go a long way in achieving the proposed targets in all fronts without the disheartened attitude of gender equality. She said that women should have great hopes of becoming achievers in their daily lives, like the two women who successfully won in the recently conducted general election. She acknowledged the Government of Nagaland and line Departments for taking care of old age people, lactating women, girl child and all the underprivileged children targeted to be facilitated through various Government implementing agencies. Dr. Kilemsungla stated that good education is the foundation of a society.

In her keynote address, Commissioner and Secretary, Women Resource Development & Horticulture, Anenla T. Sato, IAS stated that the 2023 International Women's Day is celebrated in Nagaland with a difference with two women legislators in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. Women participation in social, political and economic areas should not be by mere presentation but by fully being aware of what we are and where we stand for in decision making, she said. 

Secretary, Social Welfare & Administrator, Nagaland State Social Welfare Board Martha Ritse, IAS spoke on the introduction to Mission Shakti (Umbrella scheme for Safety, Security and Empowerment of women). Director, Women Resource Development, Vilone Sakhrie gave an overview of transformative Livelihood Intervention Project & the Myki initiative. A special song was presented by Aosunep Jamir.

In the Technical session, Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu, Assistant Professor, Kohima College, Kohima, spoke on Digital Citizenship and Gender Equity, particularly for students and faculty members. Moakumla Aier, Assistant Engineer, NIELIT, spoke on Women in Technology, briefing about the scope for Information Technology. Kihika Sumi Chishi, DySP Cyber Cell, spoke on Safety and Security in Digital spaces. Concluding remarks was delivered by Director, Social Welfare, Tosheli Zhimomi.

The program was organized by Social Welfare Department under the theme " DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality" with other Line Departments, Department of Women Resource Development, Nagaland State Commission for Women, Nagaland State Social Welfare Board and State Hub for Empowerment of Women.
