Speaking on the theme "Gender Equality Today for a sustainable Tomorrow" EAC, Chubamongla Kichu said that through women's participation, it can bring an environment change during the International Women's Day celebration at DC's conference hall, Kiphire on 8th March 2022.
Kichu while highlighting the theme said that 50 percent of the population is women and equal participation of both men and women is required for a change in the environment and for sustainable development. She also stated that the International Women's Day is celebrated for women's achievement in political, social, economic and cultural field and to raise the issue of women's equality. She urged the women folk not to solely depend on men but to be economic independent. She also encouraged the women folk not to focus only on government jobs but to set up small business for economic development.
A flower competition was also conducted where in bloom flowers category, Pukhali Sumi claimed the first prize while Chumila and Chubala came in second and third respectively. In green leaves category, the first prize was bagged by Thsipongchi and Tsasela and Supanshe won the second and third prize respectively.
Women Icon Piramal Swasthya (ADC) Health) was awarded to Thepila, Asha Worker from Thangthure village for her outstanding performance during Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign. Horticulture Department distributed free Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) to the participants while the programme chaired by District Coordinator DLCW-Mahila Shakti Kendra, Visuthong T.
