On the occasion of Jan Jatiya Gaurav Divas 2023 Tribal Folk Song and Dance program was organised by the Tribal Research Institute (TRI) Nagaland under the department of Tribal Affairs with H. Tovihoto Ayemi advisor for Tribal Affairs & Election special guest.
The function was held at the Garden, Kohima on 21st November 2023. Addressing at the function, Ayemi stated that the people living in Nagaland is 100% tribal state. He said, Government of India is giving priority to the tribals through various schemes. He also stressed on the importance of our rich culture and tradition and to simultaneously preserve it.
Tribal Affairs Secretary, Angilana Tajen (NCS) in her welcome address stated that the Jan Jatiya Gaurav Divas was adopted by the Government of India as part of the 75th Azadi ka Amrit Mahostsav to commemorate the contribution of Tribal Freedom Fighters.
The following tribes presented tribal Folk song and dance. Sumi, Sangtam, Ao, Rengma, Phom, Chakhesang, Kuki, Lotha, Kachari, Tikhir, Yimkhiung, Angami, Chang, Khiamniungan, Pochuri, Zeliang and Konyak.
Earlier, Angap Ngapgang sang the National anthem while Keziah Semy and Pauloi gave special appearance and Tiamongla chaired the program. Vote of thanks was proposed by Director I. Sino Phom.
