Khaozaosie Hok- Ah cum Mini Hornbill festival 2022 was celebrated at Noklak Hq with Advisor Prisons, Printing & Stationery, Government of Nagaland,  H. Haiying as Special Guest and Deputy Commissioner Noklak, Hiazu Meru as Host on 20th January 2022 at Public Ground, Noklak town.

Speaking on the occasion, H. Haiying said the Government is ready to promote tourism sector in the region so he advised the youth to practically contribute, and create tourism friendly place. Seeing the potential of tourism in the district, he encouraged the youths to use talent and skills to improve tourism and also uplift their livelihoods. In all the developmental undertakings, he advised to take responsibility and co-operate with the government in order to bring proper development in the district.

On the occasion, the Advisor called upon the gathering to rededicate themselves and unite for all round development and wished for a good harvest and good health.

Hiazu Meru said the district has lot of potential in tourism sector. Accordingly, he encouraged the youths to give importance on tourism sector adding that tourism industry is the fastest growing industry in the world.

Superintendent of Police Noklak, Pritpal Kaur, IPS, in her speech, said farmers are the back bone of the society. She advised the gathering not to exploit the natural resources instead preserve and protect the biodiversity. SP advised to learn and keep the traditional knowledge and the roots. She emphasized on the importance of getting patent for the district products.

President Khiamniungan Tribal Council, M. Thangou who also spoke on the occasion said, Khaozaosie Hok-Ah is an important festival of Khiamniungan which marks the end of all agricultural activities of the year, a time to rest and to give thanks to God for the bountiful harvest and triumph over adversities all throughout the year. 

Folksong was presented by Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam, Noklak town unit. Invocation prayer was pronounced by Hempao Lam, ES KBCA and benediction prayer by Pastor LBC NT, A. Penglang.

The programme started with ‘paying of tribute’ of those persons who lost their lives on 4th December 2022 at Oting.

Cultural troupes display of traditional dance and song, followed by Khaozaosie Hok-Ah feast, marked the celebration.
