A Khelo India Centre (Archery) was inaugurated at St. Xavier College, Jalukie on 4th June 2022. The Centre was inaugurated by Associate Vice President, Athletics, Federation of India, Abu Metha.
Speaking on the inaugural function as the Special Guest, Abu Metha said in the olden days, arrows were used not only in sports but also as a means of survival to hunt, and shoot during wars but today we shoot the target to show that we are the best and the country and state today shows it's power in sports arenas and not on battlefields.
Stating that students are the ambassadors and future champions of Nagaland who would make the people proud, he appealed to them to be confident & brave to reach greater heights and take up their responsibilities very seriously.
While speaking, Abu Metha also asserted that the Catholic Church and its institutions are accountable for building the nation by way of imparting quality education and producing great leaders in the country and state. He encouraged them to continue working for the common cause towards supporting the nation-building. He also expressed hope that the institution will produce an archery team to represent the state and the country in the days to come.
Earlier, a short speech was delivered by DSO Peren, Asekho Talie, while a greeting was said by the Principal, Rev. Dr. Francis Cheerangal, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Shudziini.
