As part of AzadikaAmritMahotsav commemorating 75 years of India's Independence, Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) organised an awareness workshop on waste segregation for Ward Sanitation Committee members in its conference hall on 29th September 2021. The workshop was organised under the slogan of "KachraAlagKaroAmritDiwas"

Resource persons, Office Secretary, KMC, ZakiekhotuoKiso spoke on "waste segregation" while Advocate cum Panel Lawyer, KDLSA, KeduviZhotso spoke on "Duties and responsibilities of local authorities and village panchayat of census towns and urban agglomerations - under Solid Waste Management Rules 2016" and Advocate cum Panel Lawyer, KDLSA, Asenla Walling spoke on " criteria and actions to be taken for Solid Waste Management in the hilly areas under Solid Waste Management Rules 2016". 

Administrator KMC, T. LanusenlaLongkumer who chaired the programme informed that the KMC will be organizing different activities till 2nd October as part of AKAM, such as awareness workshop for Community/ Pay and Use Toilet Caretakers, felicitation of Waste Entrepreneurs, Sanitation workers etc.
