On October 16, 2023, Kohima College embraced the spirit of unity and generosity as it celebrated its annual Autumn Carnival. This heartwarming event, jointly organized by the Skill Development Cell and the Students Welfare Committee, not only offered a day of joy but also contributed to a noble cause.

The highlight of the carnival was the "Contributed Items Stall," where faculty, staff, and students came forward with generous donations of a wide range of items, all available at nominal prices. The proceeds generated from this unique stall will be channeled into the "Need-Based Grant-in-Aid" fund, which provides financial assistance to students hailing from underprivileged backgrounds to pursue their education.

Kethosenuo Kesiezie, Chairperson of the event, emphasized the significance of community support and the college's commitment to breaking down financial barriers to education. The "Contributed Items Stall" stood as a testament to the dedication of Kohima College to this noble cause.

Initially established as the "Poor Students Fund" in 2017, with an initial contribution of ₹10000 from the then-Governor PB Acharya, this initiative has since evolved into a vital resource that aids underprivileged students at Kohima College in achieving their academic goals.

The day's proceedings commenced with a spiritual touch as Khekali Sema led a solemn invocation. This was followed by a warm welcome address from Dr. Vitsosie Vupru and the official inauguration of the carnival.

Temjen Imna Along, the Minister for Higher Education and Tourism, graced the event with his esteemed presence. His attendance underscored the government's unwavering commitment to supporting education and tourism in the region. It was a recognition of the pivotal role played by such initiatives in fostering equal educational opportunities for all.
