A review meeting between the District Administration, National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and contractor officials was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Kohima, on August 25, 2026, to assess the progress of ongoing works along the National Highway 29, Kohima-Jessami Road, connecting Kohima to Phek.
The meeting reviewed various issues affecting the progress of works, including sinking zones, road maintenance, GSB and WMM works, drainage, culverts, shoulders and protection work.
The contractor committed to commencing major GSB, WMM and DBM works from September 12 and completing the identified works by the first week of October, 2026 under Kohima section of Kohima- Jessami NH 29.
Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, NCS, stressed the need for visible improvement in the pace of work and directed the contractor to ensure timely deployment of machinery, manpower and materials. He urged the NHIDCL and EPC contractor to factor local considerations and sentiments while carrying out the road construction work.
The Deputy Commissioner said the district administration would extend necessary support in resolving issues within its jurisdiction and would closely monitor the progress against the timelines committed by the contractor.
