The Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) organised a felicitation of the 13th HSLC Examination Topper, 2021 amongst Government High School in DPDB's Conference Hall, Kohima on 16th August 2021.
Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire congratulated Basanti Devi for her achievement and expressed his happiness on her desire to become a doctor in future. He said that one will have success when there is determination, devotion and dedication and encouraged her to be specific and select the right discipline in medical field.
The HSLC topper amongst Government High School Kohima, Basanti Devi D/o Basanta Singha from Government Higher Secondary School, Jotsoma, in her short speech expressed her thanks and gratitude to the her teachers and parents for her success. She shared her desire to opt for Science stream and wish to become a doctor in future.
Vice Principal GHSS Jotsoma, Megosevi Kuotsu in his speech said that it was a great moment for the School and Basanti to be selected for this prestigious award and thanked DPDB Kohima for the encouragement given to the student of Government School. He said that Basanti is an obedient, hard working and dedicated student who also received District Award in class VIII for being a topper amongst government school.
Megosevi also shared that the School was upgraded to Higher Secondary School in the year 2014 with Arts and Commerce streams and since then the School was able to produce cent percent result both in secondary and higher secondary level till 2020 with a topper in HSSLC examination 2020. “This year though we failed to produce a cent percent result in both HSLC and HSSLC Examination, yet we made it to the top 10 list where two of our class 12 students (Arts) secured the 6th and 9th position, he added.
Parents of Basanti Devi also spoke on the occasion while the programme was chaired by ADC Kohima, N. Bhavani Sri. IAS and vote of thanks was delivered by DEO Kohima, Neizetuonuo.
