The funeral service of Lt. Temjen Toy, IAS, was held on 29th January, 2021 at the Chief Secretary's Official Residence, Kohima.
Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, in his eulogy described Toy as a humble, upright and dedicated leader, who excelled in all his assignments. He called Toy a true bureaucrat and one of the best officers, someone whom he had full trust and confidence in. Toy served the state government in various capacities and head various organisations with sincerity and dedication, Rio said. He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family on his behalf and on the behalf of the Government of Nagaland.
Additional Chief Secretary & Finance Commissioner, Sentiyanger Imchen, IAS who spoke on behalf of the IAS Association, Nagaland described late Temjen Toy a "seasoned bureaucrat", who was known for his administrative skill as evident from his leadership in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He added that the void created by his sudden demise will be felt deeply in the governance of the State.
Eulogies were also given by the Ao Senden and Kohima Aor Telongjem.
On behalf of the family members, Toy's father Er. I. Lanu Toy thanked the Government of Nagaland for organising such a grand reception in honour of his son on his last journey. He also thanked the state government, individuals and well-wishers for constant support and upholding him after he had been diagnosed with illness.
Prominent personalities like I. Imkong, Meyionen, Dr.Kezevito Keditsu also spoke on the occasion.
The Guard of Honour was given by the Nagaland Police. The programme was chaired by the Chief Secretary, J. Alam, IAS.
Rev. T. W. Yamyap, State Chaplain invoked God's blessing while the word of God and benediction was offered by Senior Pastor, Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo, Rev. Sentisashi. The pianist of the program was Khyochano TCK.
The funeral was attended by a host of dignitaries including Ministers, Advisors, MLAs, bureaucrats, senior government officials and well wishers.
