The inaugural program for a two-day training and demonstration on "e-Challan" (Phase 1) took place at the Conference Hall of the Transport Commissionerate in Kohima on 18th August 2023.

Addressing the gathering, Transport Commissioner of Nagaland, Elias T. Lotha, emphasized the significance of e-Challan as a tool to address urbanization challenges. He highlighted that adopting e-Challan is a crucial step towards transforming into a smart city.

Providing an overview of e-Challan, Sr. Technical Director and State Informatics Officer, NIC Nagaland, I. Lanusungkum Aier, explained that e-Challan is an Android-based mobile app and web interface designed to comprehensively assist transport enforcement officers and traffic policemen. The application is seamlessly integrated with the Vahan and Sarathi applications and encompasses numerous user-friendly features while encompassing the primary functionalities of the traffic enforcement system. He stressed that the application serves as an end-to-end automated system with a digital interface catering to all stakeholders within the challan ecosystem. The software provides customized interfaces for enforcement officers, citizens (private and commercial vehicle owners/drivers), state transport offices, regional transport/traffic offices, NIC administration, and the Ministry of Road and Transport. Aier emphasized that the common system will guarantee data integrity, reliability, and transparency across all stakeholders.

The event was presided over by Deputy Transport Commissioner, Lovikali Yepthomi.
