Longleng District Planning & Development Board meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman DPDB Longleng, Dharam Raj, IAS on 10th November 2022 at DPDB hall, Longleng.
The DC while welcoming the members acknowledged the good attendance with active participation of Heads of Offices in the DPDB meeting. He informed that Sr. Superintendent of Police and Chief Medical Officer of Longleng are being transferred out from the district and he acknowledged the contribution made by the outgoing officers during their stay in the district and encouraged them to continue to work with the same spirit in their new assignments.
While presenting the agendas for approval of teachers and fourth grade staff in the GHS and GMS in the district, Sr. SDEO & DEO in-charge Longleng, Yahuto Kath highlighted the grievances faced by the government schools in the district due to shortage of teachers.
He informed that out of the existing 15 GHS in Longleng, 7 GHS are functioning without Maths teachers, 10 GHS without English teacher, 2 GHS without Science teacher and 5 GHS with no Hindi teacher. He further apprised the members that as per the standard criteria of the school, the actual requirement of teachers in these 15 GHS are 21 Maths Teachers, 17 Science Teachers, 10 English Teachers and 11 Hindi Graduate Teachers.
He also informed that 18 GMS in the district do not have fourth grade staff and suggested for post creations. Asserting that one cannot expect good results without teachers, he said shortage of major subject teachers is directly affecting the students' performance in their examinations.
Supplementing to the Sr. SDEO, the DC lamented that with such situation, the grievances of the government schools in the district will go on unless the government comes up with a new policy to redress the issues. With absences of Maths and Science Teachers we cannot expect our students becoming Maths and Science Teachers in the future and the problems will go on until a decision is taken up at the higher level, he added.
After deliberating on the issue, the house forwarded the approval of teachers’ requirements and creation of fourth grade staff of the schools. The house also forwarded for granted-in-aid to Good Shepherd School, Longleng.
EAC Sadar, Chingmei highlighted on Chief Minister's Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) and setting up of registration centres for enrolment of government employees and beneficiaries under CMHIS.
SDO (Civil) Longleng briefed on conduct of inter department sports events in the district, collection of membership fees for Officers’ Club and appointment of president of the club. Accordingly, the board constituted a 5-member executive committee for selection of president for Officers’ club.
The departmental activity was presented by the Department of Social Welfare where CDPO, Longleng, T. Longlang Luckpan highlighted on the various activities taken up by the Department. CMO Longleng has been entrusted to present the activities of the department in the next DPDB meeting.
