The Longleng District Planning & Development Board meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman DPDB, Longleng Dharam Raj, IAS on 7th September 2022 at DPDB hall.
The Deputy Commissioner while welcoming the members present spoke on the roles and responsibilities of the HoDs. He asserted that the role of the HoD was to control, supervise and monitor their employees for effective functioning of the government establishment besides active participation in the DPDB and other development activities of the district.
The DC asserted that deputing representatives in the DPDB will not serve the purpose. We need thinking minds for healthy debate and discussions for fruitful results. Therefore, he appealed to the HoOs to come up with agendas and grievances to redress the issues and said inputs and contributions from all concerned members are required for an effective planning system in the district.
The Longleng District Drivers Union has proposed the establishment of a Transport Office in the district. The representative of the union informed that due to the non-establishment of a transport office the denizen of Longleng had to travel to other districts for registration and renewal of vehicles, driving licenses, etc. He informed that this is the fourth time the union is seeking to redress the issues through DPDB. He suggested at least establishing an attached branch office to redress the grievances faced by the people.
In this regard, the Senior Superintendent of Police Longleng Kuhovi Sumi informed that in the previous year during the DPDB meeting when the Union came up with the same issue, he had suggested organizing a camp once a month to redress the issues faced by the people till the transport office is formally established. After lengthy deliberation, the DC assured to discuss the matter with the DC of Mokokchung and other senior officers in Kohima.
The departmental activity was presented by the Labour Department, Longleng.
Earlier, the meeting began with a self-introduction by the new members and a review of the last meeting minutes by the Chairman. The DC directed the PHED department to present their departmental activities in the next DPDB meeting and call off the meeting with a vote of thanks.
