In accordance with announcement made by the Prime Minister of India for extension of lockdown till 3rd of May all-over the country an emergency meeting of the Longleng District Task Force on COVID-19 was held at DC office complex under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner & Chairman DTF, Longleng M. Shayung Phom on 14th April 2020. The meeting was called to enforce and review various measures on lockdown and to ensure the safety of the citizens.

Acknowledging their active service the Deputy Commissioner asserted that the primary objective of the meeting was to have well preparation to combat COVID-19 and ensure the safety of the citizens by maintaining various measures to keep away from the virus and added that we must be prepared and ready to respond in time without blaming each other.

He urged the members to give valuable suggestions and measures to ensure that Longleng is free and contained from spreading COVID-19. While thanking the civil societies for their cooperation and contribution to the district administration and Police on COVID-19 Shayung appealed to the NGOs to play a vital role to educate and control the public to adhered to the lockdown for their safety and to refrain from unscrupulous use of social media.

Dr. Obangjungla Chief Medical Officer Longleng, Dr. Lhouvizotuo Belho Medical Superintendent of DHL and Dr. Maria Yaden, District Surveillance Officer reported on the preparation, functioning, facilities provided and available at Makeshift Hospital, district COVID-19 hospital, waste management system, quarantine makeshift, thermal screening, travel history of quarantine people, etc. They informed that maximum criteria have been maintained as per the facilities provided by the government despite shortage of manpower and experts.  They lamented and informed that anesthesiologist was not posted in the district to operate and use the ventilator. However, they informed that the matter was reported to the higher authority and expecting positive response.

Yanithung Ezung SP Longleng, D. Robin ADC Longleng, Atopu Sumi Adl. SP, Y.B. Angam public leader, Longdang Temjen V/P PPC, Nokchem Asstt. Comdt. VG and others shared their views and suggested suitable measures.

After a lengthy deliberations the members extended the timing for opening of grocery shops from 8 am to 12 noon. Use of token system with serial number to maintain social distancing in the bank and ATM, Repairing of ATM booth at NST, Refrain from use of unauthorised I/D cards and vehicle sticker on COVID-19, Complete sealing of interstate border and to check and control of illegal supply of drugs in the district, Measures for safe passage of essential commodities in the district, etc.

It further appealed to all the citizens of the district to extend full cooperation and support to the district administration, police and frontline workers who are constantly working for the people to maintaining strict discipline with adherence to lockdown.
