LONGLENG-TUENSANG UPGRADATION ROAD LAUNCHED AT LONGLENG

The Rehabilitation and upgradation of Longleng – Tuenasng Road was formally launched on 19th February 2020 at Nakalempon, Longleng with Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland S. Pangnyu Phom as the Special Guest. 

            While acknowledging the cooperation and support extended by the Chang and Phom community Pangnyu Phom called upon the landowners of 19 village, NGOs and civil societies under Tuensang and Longleng district to extend fullest cooperation and support for speedy completion of the project with quality rehabilitation of the road  and at the same time Pangnyu also appealed to the department and the contractor to cooperate with the people and the landowners who have donated their land without compensation. He was optimistic that with the active cooperation of all concern the road will be a model for the rest of the Nagas.

            Emphasizing on importance of road for social and economic development of the people he said the rehabilitation road from Longleng to Tuensang will not benefit only the two district alone but also the people of Mon and Noklak equally.  He also asserted that Longleng is a fortunate district because very soon it will be connected with three National Highway. Therefore, he urged the people to be humble and come forward with unity and burried their past difference on communal or party line to embrace development for better tomorrow.  Pangnyu also appealed to the district administration, Police and the village councils to settle any dispute in an amicably manner without obstructing the project.

            The Deputy Commissioner, Longleng M. Shayung Phom, The ADC Tuensang Ajit Verma IAS and Rev. Dr. L. Anjo Keikung also spoke and exhorted the people. Brief note on the project was apprised by A. Pongshi Phom on behalf of the firm and Er. Limanaro Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) on behalf of Depptt.

            Welcome address was proposed by Shamloi Phom Chairman Hukphang Village council on behalf of landowners.  The program culminated with vote of thanks by Er. S.B. Angh Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Longleng followed by benediction by Rev. Beau Pastor Longleng Toiwn Baptist Church. The program was chaired by Er. Khahuli Sema Addl. Chief Engineer Tuensang Zone.

            The project was funded under North East Road Sector Development Scheme (NERSDS) NEC. The launching program was attended by the district administrations, various departments, NGOs, Civil Societies, village councils, Landowners and the general public of both Longleng and Tuensang district.
