MLA & Advisor, Home Guard & Civil Defence, Fire and Emergency Service, Relief & Rehabilitation, S.Kiusumew Yimchunger graced the Longmatra Mango Festival held at Public Ground, Longmatra Town, Kiphire as the Special Guest with the presence of the Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer NCS as the Guest of Honour on 19th July 2025.
The Chief Guest in his speech acknowledged the Chief Minister of Nagaland Dr.Neiphiu Rao, for prioritising various programs for the state and said that the government is ready to provide various things to improve the live of the farmers in the state, as Longmatra Town is the gateway of Kiphire district and asked the villages to utilise the potential of the land properly.
He also urged the people of Longmatra to participate in the marketing competition and work hard to capitalized on the opportunity as Kiphire district has many potentials in observing fruit festivals unlike other districts and requested the department to help farmers in the district and provide every possible way to uplift villages and request the Longmatra area to use mangoes to generate income in the future.
Guest of Honour, Deputy Commissioner Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer NCS, in his speech emphasized the use of social media in the villages for a living as government jobs are not the only way to earn money, but one can use various means to make a living. He said that today is a humble beginning, but asked the farmers to continue for the future as well and said that today's festival may be a small start, but in the future, visitors from other states may come to witness it.
Followed by the declaration of the Longmatra Mango Festival and inauguration of the Stalls, which was again followed by Recreational fun and games. Other highlights of the program included Mango eating competition, Tug of war, Mango on a pole, Sack race for mango, among others.
The festival was organised by the Administration of Longmatra, Department of Horticulture and the citizens of Longmatra Block in collaboration with the concerned departments and local stakeholders. The festival showcased fresh mango produce, processed products, SHGs Stalls, Training sessions, and Cultural presentations, where local farmers and the community participated positively.
The compere of the program was Apiba A. Sangtam, and the invocation was by Y. Thsarisa, Pastor of LTBL. The Welcome address was delivered by EAC, Longmatra Takatemjen Pongen. A Presentation by Daniel Sangtam, President of LAPO and short speeches were delivered by President LAGBU, A. Throngethe and DHO Kiphire, Sentinungba Longchar Ao. A special number was presented by Albert S. Jingru Sangtam while the vote of thanks was pronounced by R.Muthsodang, Head Dobashi, Longmatra.
