The 25th Silver Jubilee celebration of the Lotha Eloe Hoho culminated on the 29th of April 2022 at Tiyi hall, Wokha.
Theme speaker Dr. Zubeno Kithan Assistant Professor UBS, Pune, Maharashtra said that much can be achieved when there is the inclusion of womenfolk in various decision-making platforms. She expressed that back then when ancestors were practicing headhunting, women worked intensively in taking care of children, farming, waving and dwelling all household chores for their family.
Dr. Kithan said gender differences, works, and decision makings shall not be classified and categorized based on physical appearance, rather she called for inclusion and equal treatment for everyone. She stated that men and women are equally created and one has to eradicate the feeling of absence in what men can or what women cannot. Expressing that women are not less than men, she pointed out the importance of inclusion of women in society at various decision-making levels by training them to freely practice their profession and trades which will bring more progress to society.
She appreciated the men folks for their support in the Silver Jubilee celebration. Dr. Kithan challenged the women to move forward with determination and with the belief that men and women are equal and achieve greater heights to benefit society.
Later in the program, the installation of new office bearers and dedication prayer were pronounced by Emilo Tungoe, Women Leader Wokha Town Church, where Thungbeni Ngullie was inducted as the president and Achumlo Kikon as the General Secretary of LEH.
The LEH during its business hour deliberated on various issues and passed resolutions emphasizing the need of educating the Lotha community with a focus on the popularization and usage of the Lotha dialect at home and during Lotha community programmes and activities. The LEH further encouraged the younger generation to honour and use original traditional attire as modernization is slowly dragging away the knowledge of original attire and tradition.
