A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked between the Land Resources Department (LRD), Government of Nagaland and Kohima Science College (KSC) on 21st April, 2021 at the Directorate of Land Resources.

The MoU was signed by Director, LRD T. Renben Lotha, and Principal, Kohima Science College Dr. Lily Sema.

The areas of collaboration would specially be on:

  1. Acquiring reagents and participate in undertaking water quality analysis of the springs through the Chemistry Department, KSC.
  2. Undertake hydro-geological studies/surveys in all the 12 districts of the State of Nagaland of the identified springs/springshed through the Geology Department, KSC.
  3. Bringing out the 2nd Edition of the spring inventory of the State. The Department has already brought out the 1st Edition of spring inventory of the State.

The partnership shall be for a period of one year initially and would be further extended if necessary. The partnership would open up opportunities for the academia to work with the implementers in real-time situations that would substantially enhance their field experiences, add value to their research works and even increase future career prospects. KSC can fit in as a very important channel between the Research & student community and State Department and bridge the gap between Lab and Land.

Land Resources Department also expressed their keen interest to collaborate with the KSC and take advantage of the vast pool of scientific resources including student community available at Kohima Science College at a mutually agreed-upon area of study that would immensely benefit both the organizations.
