The 61st Statehood Day of Nagaland was celebrated at Raj Niwas, New Delhi on 1st December 2023 with Lt. Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena and Sangita Saxena hosting the celebration as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative under ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.’

Lt. Governor of Delhi greeted the people of Nagaland on the momentous occasion at the function which was attended by senior government officials from the State, students and Naga community living in the capital. While stating that the Prime Minister emphasis on the North East region has resulted in more exposure of the State to other parts of the country, the Lt. Governor encouraged the people to include NE in their travel itinerary. He also stated that as much as Delhi is a part of Delhiites so it is for people living in it. He also assured to look into any matters faced by the people from the State living in the Capital. Expressing his happiness on organizing such event, he hoped that through it a sense of closeness would be created among the people from different parts of the country.

Chief Resident Commissioner, Nagaland House New Delhi, Jyoti Kalash IAS thanked the Lt. Governor for hosting the celebration which, he stated, is the first of its kind. He also invited everyone to visit the Hornbill Festival which began on 1st December at Kisama, Kohima stating that it is a must experience, unique festival which has gained international repute.

A cultural dance was performed by Lotha Cultural Troupe and the Eastern Nagaland Students’ Union, New Delhi presented a folk song during the programme.
