Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, NCS, has issued a circular announcing a mass social work to be conducted across Kohima district on June 21, 2025 (Saturday), starting from 7:00 AM onwards. The initiative is aimed at promoting cleanliness and community participation across the district.
A detailed work distribution plan covering the DC Office and other District Offices under Kohima headquarters is being issued. Heads of Offices have been asked to ensure that their teams are well prepared and actively involved in the activity. All participants are required to bring along the necessary tools and items for the social work. Carrying large sacks for easy collection and disposal of garbage has been advised.
Team Leaders have been instructed to coordinate with officers responsible for arranging vehicles and machinery for garbage pickup and disposal. These arrangements must be ready by June 20, 2025. The collected waste must be properly disposed of at the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) dumping site at Meriema. Heads of Offices are also responsible for ensuring that no piles of garbage are left behind after the work is completed in their assigned areas.
Attendance of all participants must be recorded by the Heads of Offices and submitted to the Deputy Commissioner on the day of the social work.
Administrative Officers in outpost areas have been directed to conduct similar social work activities in the towns and villages under their jurisdiction.
The Chairman of Kohima Municipal Council has been requested to mobilise all colonies and wards under the municipal area in coordination with ward councillors to ensure full participation. The Chief Executive Officer of KMC has also been directed to instruct the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) to take responsibility for the stretch from TCP Gate to Keziekie. Business establishments falling under this zone must participate in the cleaning drive and ensure that the areas outside their shops are cleaned during the social work.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Ruopfukuotuo Noudi (Contact: 8731815626), will be the overall in-charge of the mass social work.
