Meeting of the District Level Implementation Committee for mobilizing the unorganized workers and undertaking registration drives in respective districts for enrolment of such workers on eShram portal was held on 21st October 2021 at DC’s Conference Hall, Kohima
Chairing the meeting, Deputy commissioner Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie stated that the Ministry of Labour & Employment, which is one of the oldest ministries of the Government of India, is continuously working on improving life and dignity of Labour Force of the country by protecting and safeguarding the interest of workers, promotion of welfare and providing social security to the labour force both in organized and unorganized sectors. Adding that Ministry of Labour has developed eShram Portal (www.eShram.gov.in) for creating a National Database of unrecognized workers, which would be seeded with Aadhaar, consists of name, occupation, addresses, education, skill types, family details etc. for optimum realization of their employability and extent the benefit of the social security schemes to them which is the first ever national database of unrecognized workers.  
Additional Secretary, Labour and Employment, Anthony Ngully informed that any worker who has been working in unrecognized sector and aged between 16 to 59 years, would be eligible to register on the eShram portal including, migrant workers, gig workers, platform workers, agricultural workers, MGNREGA workers, fishermen, milkmen, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers,  street vendors, domestic workers, rickshaw pullers and other workers engaged in other similar occupations in the unrecognized sector, self-employed worker or a wage worker in the unorganised sector and also the worker in the organized sector who is not a member of ESIC, EPFO or not a  Government Employee
Highlighting on the benefits of registration on eShram portal, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Vikeluto Naki said that eShram portal will be a centralized database of unrecognised workers seeded with Aadhaar. After registering he or she will get an accidental insurance cover of 2 lacs under PMSBY. Stating that in future, all the social security benefits of the unrecognised workers will be delivered through the portal even in emergency and national pandemic situation like the COVID-19, the database would be utilized for assistance.     He informed that the following documents are required for registration in eShram portal: Aadhaar number; mobile number (Aadhaar linked preferred), Bank Account with IFSC by self-registration with Adhaar linked mobile number or by visiting nearest CSC and State Seva Kendras (SSKs) with biometrics
The implementing committee members discussed on various issues on registration, enrolment and mobilization programmes and also decided to organised sensitization programmes in all the Sub-division with village functionaries under Kohima district
