The three-day 9th State level Mimkut Mini Hornbill Festival under the theme "Unity Through Culture", organized by Kuki Inpi Nagaland, sponsored by Tourism Department, Govt. of Nagaland, began on 16th January 2023 at GMS ground Molvom Village under Medziphema Sub Division Dist. Chumukedima, Nagaland.

 

On the first day of the festival special guest Alun Hansing Retd. Commissioner and Secretary, Government of Nagaland, graced the Festival. He emphasized the importance of celebrating the Mimkut Festival and exhibiting their ethnic culture through work that represents their roots. He also wished the Kuki community to carry peace and prosperity through their festival.

 

On the second day of the festival, Chief Secretary, Government of Nagaland, J Alam, IAS was the special guest. He expressed joy at attending this special festival and being a part of this grand ceremony. He thanked the Kuki community for the grand welcome and felicitation. Addressing the gathering he said the Kuki tribe contributes to every development whether in farming, government, or any other sectors in Nagaland.

 

He lauded them for their hard work in contributing to the development of the state. He encouraged the community to continue working hard and emphasized education which will develop not only the community but also help in developing Nagaland.

 

He thanked the Kuki community and the organizers as festivals like Mimkut Mini Hornbill are very important for preserving and promoting naga cultures.

 

Special invite ADC Medziphema Imsongmeren urged the Kuki Community to carry on their good approach towards unity and progress for a better future.

 

The second day of the Mimkut Mini Hornbill featured different activities like traditional dances from different cultural troupes from Athibung, Inbung, Molvom, songs from different bands- The Black Cheque RFG, and Artists like Maxxy Minthang, Helamboi Baite.

 

The three-day long Mimkut Mini Hornbill festival will culminate on the 18th of January 2023, with a Night carnival, extravaganzas Miss Mimkut 2023, and a symposium on Kuki Custom & Culture with Keduosieu Metha, Director Tourism, Government of Nagaland, as special guest.
