The Mokokchung District Planning Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held on 10th February, 2021 through video conference under the chairmanship of the Speaker, NLA & Chairman DPDB, Mokokchung District Shariangain Longkumer.
The members present included Minister, PWD (Housing & Mechanical), Tongpang Ozukum, Advisor Industries & Commerce, NIDC, Imnatiba, MLA, Imkong L Imchen, ADC Mokokchung, S.P Mokokchung, Administrative Officers and District heads and members from civil organizations.
The house decided setting up of a committee to work on translation of the Village Council Act, Nagaland to Ao dialect so as to ensure empowerment and greater understanding of the Act to the village administration. The meeting also stressed on the importance of disseminating information regarding all the schemes and projects, both central and state, being implemented in the district and all the implementing departments were requested to report the status at the next DPDB meeting.
The house discussed on the augmentation of water supply to Mokokchung Town on which Er. Yanger, PHED, Mokokchung submitted the proposal which was approved and forwarded to higher authority. Other agenda discussed included intervention to develop dairying under Mokokchung district which was put-up by the Mokokchung district Dairy Farmers, setting up of a committee under the chairmanship of chairman/vice chairman DPDB with Dr. Simon, representative from the district Veterinary Office as member.
The house also reviewed the construction of P. Shilu Ao Park, Mokokchung and directed the Urban Development Officer to bring out a detailed report on the expenditure and fund requirement.
ADC Tuli, Imsongmeren reported on the dilapidated condition of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tuli where he was asked to prepare and submit a detailed status of the school to the chairman, DPDB for further steps. The house approved the Cassava Cultivation Project at Ungma village to be sent to the concern department for further necessary steps. The nomenclature of Oriental School to Bridges Academy, Changtongya was also approved.
The house approved the registration of the two new societies, namely Mokokchung Sumi Community and Asem Tsuri Rogo Society, Lirmen village.
The DPDB reviewed the plight of traffic congestion in Mokokchung Town on which the house recommended for bringing out a proper road mapping by the Urban Development Office to ease the traffic congestion. The chairman DPDB recommended for setting up of a committee under the MMC Mokokchung to look into the possibilities of road widening and expansion and another committee under S.P Mokokchung, to work out modalities and plan for parking arrangement.
