Department of School Education, Mon, organised a grand celebration of Teachers' Day 2022 with the theme, "Teachers: Leading in crisis, re-imagining the future", at Council Hall Mon on 5th September 2022.
Guest of honour, DC Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, in his speech focused on the important role of both the teacher and the student in steering the direction of any society. Verma used a flowing river as a metaphor for teachers and urged the students to strive to attain their best by making full use of their flowing river of knowledge.
Drawing inspiration from the life of Dr. Radhakrishnan, Verma advised the students to live a life of simplicity and humility with the motive acquire knowledge and consistently improve themselves. He appealed to all the teachers in the District to be active and enthusiastically complete all the assignments and tasks laid before them. He stated that the teaching community would determine the future of the District and encouraged them to take honour and pride in teaching the children.
Four teachers from different parts of Mon were presented with the District Teachers Award for their outstanding service. The awardees were M. Esther Moikap Konyak, PT, GHSS Mon; John Konyak, PT, GPS Shangsa; N. Langphong Konyak, teacher in-charge, GPS Mienchangle and Dziesebeiu Angela, Asst. Teacher, Sacred Heart School, Mon where M. Esther Moikap Konyak delivered a speech on behalf of the awardees.
ADEO, Mon, S. Bendang Aier, delivered the welcome address while District Chaplain, Rev. Ashok pronounced a special prayer for the teachers. The celebration witnessed performances by Holy Cross School, Model School, St. Mary's School, GHS Mon Town 'C', W. Ngapsa, RBHTI Mon, Eastern School and GHSS Mon Town 'D'.
Vote of thanks was delivered by SDEO, Aboi, N. Asangla Longchar. Teachers and students from various private and government schools from the District attended the celebration.
