As part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Bijlee Mahotsav was celebrated, under the theme "Ujjwal Bharat, Ujjwal Bhavisha"- power @2047 at Signal Angami Village, Dimapur on 29th July 2022.

MLA, Moatoshi Longkumer who graced the occasion as the special guest said that Bijlee Mahotsav is being organised to highlight the achievements in power sector implemented under various schemes by the State Governments and Power Departments across India. Urging the citizens to pay electric bill on time and to use electricity economically, he said that despite government spending hundreds of crores to provide electricity in the State, the power generation is never sufficient to cover the entire state and has to buy from neighbouring state at a very high price.

Expressing appreciation to the Power department and its officers and staff for rendering tireless service and sacrifice, he also warned of any malpractices such as meter tampering in cognizance with the consumers so that the revenue deficit can slowly overcomes. 

District Nodal Officer for the celebration, Er. Zachamo Ovung, NEEPCO Limited, in his speech highlighted some of the achievements in power sector over the years and the role of NEEPCO. He also sought the cooperation of all to be able to achieve uninterrupted power supply.

Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal, who also spoke on the occasion said that the electricity has become like oxygen, which is an essential part of everyday life, therefore, urged the consumers to pay electric bill on time and sough for the cooperation of everyone.

Other highlights of the celebration included, short films on Universal Household Electrification, Village Electrification Distribution System strengthening, Capacity Addition, One Nation One Grid, Renewable Energy, testimonials on electrification by beneficiaries, Nukkad Natak and cultural dance.
