Governor of Assam and Nagaland Prof. Jagdish Mukhi visited Avankhung village, under Meluri Sub-Division of Phek District on 29th October 2022, and conducted series of interaction meetings with the District Officers from various departments, NGOs/Hohos of Pochuri tribe.
Governor asked the Department officers to handle the developmental Flagship policies in sincerity for the upliftment of Farmers' income. Governor also inquired about Jal Jeevan Mission for drinking water supply, Rural Housing Schemes, Rural Electrification programmes, Policy for Farmers double income, Education Policies in the State, where concerned District officers were in the meeting venue at Avangkhu.
Governor urged upon the Department officers to handle all various kinds of Developmental Flagship schemes to properly implement and said that various programme/schemes should reach the concerned citizens for the development of the State and Nation, in which Governor stated and said that the National income would automatically increase when income of our farmers come up double, that Governor commented. Regarding Education system, Governor stated and said that Education does not meant for teaching only Book knowledge, but said that Children up to primary standard should be taught in mother tongue and impart our own culture and tradition, so that it would definitely create feeling of unity and patriotism for greater interest our Nation, Governor said.
In Agriculture sector, Governor asked the Concerned Department officers and District Administration to monitor whether the farmers' income are increasing through Flagship Schemes for Farmers double income Policy being brought in the State.
In interaction meeting, Governor urged upon Pochuri Hoho and Pochuri Women Hoho to preserve own culture and tradition which is utmost important for our future.
Regarding Hoho's demand for upgradation of Meluri sub-Div to District, Governor informed that it is State subject for which State Govt is taking care of the demand.
Governor also conducted interactive meeting with Police and Assam Rifles for proper Security condition of the State, bordering international.
Earlier, Governor right after arrival at helipad Avangkhu, conducted interaction briefing from Hem Chandra Singh, Commanding officer of 38 Assam Rifle camping at Avangkhu, Phek in which Governor appreciated the high moral and motivation of the troops.
Governor also conducted interaction meeting with the Business Community of Pochuri people.
Governor in his visit to Avangkhu of Phek District was accompanied by his Lady wife. Yitachu MLA 20th Meluri A/C also attended the occasion and spoke for the importance and upliftment of the District. Razouvolie Dozo Deputy Commissioner Phek spoke to welcome address of the occasion. Mhabemo Yanthan (IAS) Commissioner & Secy to Governor accompanied the visit of the VIP. All District Officers of various Department in Phek District, and area Public were assembled for the meetings.
