The morning session of Cultural Extravaganza under the theme "Cultural Connect" organized by the Department of Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland, was graced by Route Manager, RMB Ultra Trail Cape Town and International Trial Run, South Africa, Chairman Board of Directors, Kibwe Kids, Jaco Janse Van Rensburg as the Chief Guest while VSM, Additional Director General Border Road (East), Pravin Kumar Hanumant Singh graced as the Honoured Guest at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on the 8th day of the ongoing 24th Hornbill Festival 2023.
Advisor, Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu was the Host while MLA, Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso and MLA, Jwenga Seb were the co-hosts. Y. Shuven Tikhir from Tikhir tribes of Nagaland invoked the traditional blessing.
Cultural troupes from nine tribes belonging to Chakhesang, Konyak, Garo, Khiamniungan, Ao, Tikhir, Angami, Kuki and Chang performed different items including traditional games, songs and dances.
Although the event was disrupted by the cold weather, the zeal and enthusiasm of the performers as well as of the audience resulted in the success of the program cohesively.
The afternoon session was graced by General Manager (Construction) Railway, SK Pandey as the Chief Guest, while Advisor Geology & Mining and DUDA, W. Chingang Konyak and Advisor Fire & Emergency Services and Home Guards & Civil Defence, S. Kiusumew Yimchunger were the Host and Co-Host respectively. The Honoured Guest was Joint Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, C.P.S Bakshi.
The event featured a vibrant cultural dances and songs performed by the various cultural troupes such as: Sumi Cultural Troupe, Phom Cultural Troupe, Rengma Cultural Troupe, Sangtam Cultural Troupe, Zeliang Cultural Troupe, Yimkhuing Cultural Troupe, Pochury Cultural Troupe, Lotha Cultural Troupe and Kachari Cultural Troupe.
