The National Voluntary Blood Donation Day which falls every year on 1st October 2022 was celebrated at Mount Olive College Kohima with the theme "Donating Blood is an act of Solidarity, Join the Effort to save Lives", organized by VBD Association Kohima with Project Director Nagaland State Aids Control Society DH&HF Dr. Akuo Sorhi and Voluntary Blood Donors who turn up to donate blood to observe the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day celebration.

Dr. Akuo Sorhi said it is very important to celebrate this day extensively because the need of the hour is to make people aware of the facts and myths about Blood donation to overcome the fear, ignorance, and misconception associated with this Nobel cause. She urged the Voluntary Blood Donors to continue to be the Ambassador and link to this Nobel act of life-saving. She informed them that Blood is a vital component of human life and Blood transfusion is required in many surgical and emergencies therefore Blood Donors play a vital role. To celebrate Voluntary Blood donation Day the Blood bank Naga Hospital Authority Kohima awarded certificates to three organizations- Voluntary Blood Donors Association Kohima, Blood Caritas, and Network of Blood Donors for their contribution.

The event was jointly supported by Nagaland Aids Control Society, Blood Band NHAK, Red Ribbon club, Mopongchuket Student's Union Kohima, and Imprint and Fusion Press. It may be noted that the source of Blood is only through Blood donation, The Voluntary Blood Donors Association Kohima VBDAK has been assisting many patients in times of emergency through Voluntary Blood donation. This momentum needs to be maintained with active participation by more individuals to connect people in need of Blood.

The VBDAK has launched an Android app called the "Nagaland Blood Donors" in the play store where one can get registered as a Voluntary Blood Donor to donate as well as to receive Blood in times of need. The Association of Blood Donors has sincerely thanked all the Voluntary Blood Donors who have been donating their blood and giving hope to someone with the gift of life. Chairman of the programme was Nodal Officer Red Ribbon club Vetoli Chophy, and a welcome address by Acting Principal MOCK Swedezhono Tsukru, Keynote address by President VBDAK Ainato Yeptho, and a vote of thanks by lifetime member Avilie Sekhose. Altogether 32 Voluntary Blood Donors donated Blood on the occasion of Voluntary Blood donation day.
