Department of Labour under Nagaland Building & Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board (NBOCWWB) organized a three-day awareness campaign and field registration at Old Riphyim Village, Wokha from 13 - 15th October 2022 from Mt. Morashen Hall, the programme was organized by Old Riphyim Village Gazetted Officers Forum (ORGOF).
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Kekhrie Yhome, Chairman, NBOCWWB highlighted that 1283 villages have been recognized by the Government of Nagaland, and he stressed that India is a welfare state and many schemes are being implemented for social security and benefits of the public which he attributed the scheme being fruitful under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio. He stated that his team is actively involved in sensitizing the people about the various benefits available for the builders and construction workers where beneficiaries are identified and guide them in availing of the benefits available. He also urged and encouraged the workers to take up work in building and construction works as it has the potential to earn livelihood for sustainability.
Delivering the keynote address T. Chubayanger, CEO, NBOCWWB said that the dedication and cooperation from the workers, the range leaders, and Old Riphyim Village Gazetted Officers Forum made the scheme a reality. He also said that digital and online facility has been made for easy registration making it convenient for the unregistered workers and he, therefore, encourage the unregistered workers to register themselves with complete documentation.
He also reminded the registered workers to renew their registration on time and follow the laid down guidelines so that the beneficiaries do not face problems in the process of availing of the benefits, and encouraged the workers to commit to their assigned work with sincerity and dedication.
Senior PS to Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Hachio Patton, who also spoke during the programme extended gratitude to the department for the tireless effort they have extended towards the benefits and welfare of the Range people in organizing such events.
He also added that through the efforts of the department the scheme will be disseminated to the beneficiaries and the board will go a long way in addressing the grievances of the workers at the grassroots and helping them in availing the opportunities. He also thanked the ORGOF for organizing such programme for the people.
The NBOCWWB has been constituted by the Department of Labour, Government of Nagaland to assist and help the construction workers in availing the social security benefits and sensitization of the public at the grassroots level. During the three-day campaign and field registration recorded, around 280 registrations/enrollments were made from Englan Range public consisting of eight villages.
The programme was chaired by Gen Secretary ORGOF Dr. N. Renthungo Patton, while the welcome address was delivered by Er. Thungdemo Patton, President ORGOF, short speeches were also delivered by Shanpan Ngullie, VCC, ORVC, and Chanbemo Odyuo President Englan Range Village Council Union.
