Nagaland Board of School Education stated that the Ministry of Education, Department of School Education and Literacy, New Delhi has been observing the Swachhata Pakhwada every year since 2016 with the involvement of the schools making it is successful mass movement. The role of the schools in ushering in a clean India has been recognized at the top most levels of the Government. This year, Swachhata Pakhwada is scheduled from 1st September to 15th September 2022 with the focus on awareness regarding COVID-19, the safety protocols and COVID appropriate behaviour, Swachhata Pakhwada 2022 activities will focus on three major precautionary practices i.e.1) Handwashing with Soap, 2). Use of Face Mask and 3). Social Distancing and the 3T’s (Trace, Test and Treat).

            In this regard, NBSE said that it is mandatory for all the Registered Institutions under Nagaland Board of School Education, Kohima to observe the Swachhata Pakhwada as per the suggested action plan received from the Ministry which is enclosed as AnnexureThe activities are to be conducted daily as per the action plan given and the report/photo must be emailed to swachhatapakhwadanagaland@gmail.com each day.

            Head of Institutions are directed to take up the suggested activities and continue the activities related to cleanliness and hygiene highlighted during Swachhata Pakhwada on a consistent and sustainable basis by integrating it with regular routine throughout the year.

 

Suggested Action Plan for Swachhata Pakhwada (1-15 September 2022)

 

1.2.2022  (Thursday)

Swachhata Shapath Day

·Swachhata Shapath function may be organised wherein all students and teachers staff may participate virtually/physically with social distancing. Children to speak about and take pledge for Swachhata including COVID related prevention measures, infection control measures to mask, safe distancing, hand hygiene etc.

·Swachhata/ COVID awareness message to be posted on the website of the Department/Organisation/Schools.

·Electronic banners may be created and uploaded on the Department State Web Portal to highlight the observance of the Swachhata Pakhwada. Publicity and awareness generation may be done through use of social media as well as electronic and print media.

 

2.9.2022 (Friday)

Swachhata Awareness Day

·Teachers to inspect sanitary facilities and every corner of the school /institution. They are to do a quick assessment and make a proposal, plan for upkeep of the facilities.

·COVID-19 sensitive adaptation for WASH facilities (Hand wash facilities, daily cleaning and disinfection of toilets/urinal facility, ventilation, waste management etc).

·All kinds of waste materials like broken furniture, unused equipments, old and defunct materials be removed from the school premises.

 

3.9.2022 (Saturday & Sunday)

Community Outreach Days

·Parenting seminars (Virtual/Small Groups) may be organised on the theme of Swachhata to promote cleanliness and COVID appropriate behaviour.

·Teachers and students in association with local representatives should propagate the theme of Swachhata Pakhwada. COVID appropriate behaviour and vaccination amongst public in surrounding areas.

 

5.9.2022 (Monday)

Green School Drive Days

·Student may develop imaginative slogans, posters and pamphlets on the themes such as fight against COVID through COVID appropriate behaviour and vaccination, water conservation, eliminating single use plastic which can be later displayed in a school exhibition and on village/town walls/school premises.

·Educate students about conservation of water and empower them to protect natural sources of water

 

6.9.2022 and 7.9.2022 (Tuesday and Wednesday)

Swachhata Participation Days

·Competition can be held in districts/blocks/cluster for clean and well maintained premises and toilet in schools while observing COVID protocols.

·Painting, Skit, Poem, Slogan Writing Competition on Swachhata.

·Letter Writing/Essay Writing Competition on the theme ‘COVID-19 Responsive School’.

 

8.9.2022 and 9.9.2022 (Thursday and Friday)

Handwash Days

·Create awareness on the need for proper hand wash in daily life.

·Children should be taught proper method/steps and time duration of hand washing with soap before and after eating.

·Barrier free access to drinking of water and toilet facilities.

·Students may be taught about ensuring that water is not wasted.

·Children may be taught about water borne diseases/safe handling of drinking water so that they practice proper hand and oral hygiene.

 

10.9.2022 and 11.9.2022 (Saturday and Sunday)

Personal Hygiene Days

·Audio Visual Programme to be undertaken to motivate students/employees and others for maintaining cleanliness.

·Students will learn about proper way of cutting nails, keeping nails clean, daily bathing with clean water, wearing clean clothes, no spitting in open, wearing shoes/slippers etc. In addition wearing face masks correctly, no hand shaking, respiratory hygiene, nor sharing personal items or food with others avoiding crowds in the time of COVID-19 shall also be taught. Students may be made aware of the importance of brushing teeth twice a day and making it a routine habit.

 

12.9.2022 (Monday)

Swachhata School Exhibition Day

·Photographs, painting, cartoons, slogans etc made by students on Swachhata activities/COVID appropriate behaviour may be displayed in School Education Department’s website.

·Making artifacts at home using local recycled raw materials for storage of waste i.e. artistic dustbins. This would promote skilling.

 

13.9.2022 and 14.9.2022  (Tuesday and Wednesday)

Swachhata Action Plan Days

·SMC/SMDC to create awareness among students, parents and local people about Swachhata Action Plan of the school.

·Covene small group meeting of Bal Sansad/School Cabinet specially to discuss the Swachhata Pakhwada activities in the school.

·Encourage community members and students to make suggestions as to what new activitied can be included under Swachhata Pakhwada and forward such suggestions to DoSEL, MOE.

 

15.9.2022 (Thursday)

Prize Distribution Day

·Prize Distribution Day for participation of Children, Teachers and Parents in Competitions viz. essay, painting, debate, quiz etc. (Physical ceremonies may be avoided)

·All schools, educational institutions may sum up their activities and work undertaken during the Swachhata Pakhwada and select best activity for forwarding to the District/State authority for uploading on the Web Site.
