Advisor School Education K.T. Sukhalu IAS (Retd.) virtually launched the Nagaland Education Management & Information System ( NEMIS) developed by the Department of School Education and the E-Classroom Program under ICT & Digital Initiatives implemented by the Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland on 2nd December 2021 from the NECTOR Conference Hall, Directorate of School Education.
K.T. Sukhalu congratulated the Department of School Education for developing the NEMIS which can play a major role in ensuring quality education to all children across the State particularly to those from the rural areas. He expressed happiness for developing a mechanism for child tracking.
K.T. Sukhalu further stated that students, particularly those studying in Govt. Schools have faced many challenges during the pandemic time to access the online education classes due to various factors and thanked the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India for sanctioning the E Classroom Programme which can help the students, teachers and the Department in addressing the challenges related to the accessibility of Online Education. He asked teachers and officials to make best use of the facilities provided so that students studying at Govt. Schools can update themselves with the help of the latest technical developments.
Shanavas C, IAS, Principal Director, School Education chaired the Programme and gave brief description of the NEMIS and the E Classroom Programme. The programme was attended by Kevileno Angami, Special Secretary, School Education; Temsunaro Aier, Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha; Asano Sekhose, Chairman, NBSE and officials from the department.
The Nagaland Education Management & Information System (NEMIS): The NEMIS Portal is developed by the DoSE for monitoring functioning of both Govt. & Private Schools functioning in the State. It has the following functions.
1. Information of School Ownership & Management
2. Information of Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff
3. Online Admission Register
4. Class wise Students Information
5. Results
6. Health Record
7. Transfer Certificate
8. Child Tracking
The NEMIS is made in such a way that it can be modified and more features can be added in future as per the needs of the department.
The E Classroom Program: The concept of E-classroom has been introduced in the state even before the onset of the pandemic. During 2020-21, the Ministry of Education and Literacy, Govt. of India has approved the use of E-classroom for 191 Elementary Schools (Classes 6 to 8) and 282 Secondary Schools (Classes 9 to 12) in the State. One of the main purposes for providing E-classroom is to enable the students to cope up with their interrupted learning due to Lockdown.
The e-contents of each lesson class-wise have been developed according to the SCERT/NBSC curriculum. The pre-loaded video lessons are embedded in pen drives and shall be transacted through SMART TVs. The E-content modules are incorporated with 2D, 3D animations, videos and illustrations to make lessons easier, engaging and more interactive. The lessons can be updated according to changes in the curriculum. Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland has partnered with the Bright Tutee for e-content development.
The ICT E-Classroom program will help the students understand their lesson/concepts better, develop more innovative ideas, queries and solutions to broaden their domain of knowledge and achieve academic excellence.
