Advisor Social Welfare, Home Guards & Civil Defence, Noke Wangnao, inaugurated the new directorate office building of Social Welfare Department on 24th August, 2021 at Directorate of Social Welfare, behind NBCC Convention Centre, Phezoucha, Kohima.

Speaking on the occasion, the Advisor conveyed his gratitude to Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio in making the project a reality and congratulated the Director and her team on the successful completion of the office building. Noke exhorted the staffs that the great bond they share as coworkers affirming the value, dignity and worth will continue and hoped that the physical environment that the new building is about to provide will greatly affect the productivity positively.

Marking the day, Wangnao unveiled the inaugural plaque of the new building.
He further encouraged all the staffs to work with new and upscale zeal and energy for the welfare of the department and for the public.

In her keynote address, Director, Social Welfare, K. Atoli Sema said that the plot of land was allotted to the department in the year 2008 by the State Government and the construction of the building commenced on 2009. Sema said that the path to progress has not always been smooth but they managed to witness a fruitful outcome today. She acknowledged the Chief Minister for his commitment towards the project and also acknowledged the Advisor for all his support in completion of the building

While delivering a short speech, Commissioner & Secretary, Social Welfare, Sarah R. Ritse expressed her gratitude to the Advisor for his constant support which ensured that the structure was successfully completed. She also thanked the officers and staff both past and present, the engineers and all stakeholders who helped in the completion of the new directorate building. She further said that the Department had a long felt need of a proper building infrastructure to facilitate smarter working environment for better management of administrative tasks, by providing rooms for housing different programmes and cells to enable easy accessibility to the public and beneficiaries. Ritse further urged the officers and staff to invest their valuable time with dedication and zeal in the best interest of the citizens. She hoped that the new building would boost the morale of all current employees to continue to work for the holistic development of the society at large.

The programme was chaired by Joint Director, Social Welfare, Tosheli Zhimomi. Invocation prayer was offered by General Secretary, NBCC, Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho while building construction report was presented by E.E, Social Welfare, K. John Mera. Vote of thanks was conveyed by officer on special duty, Social Welfare, Michael Zaren.
