On December 1, 2023, in observance of World AIDS Day, the District AIDS Control Society Longleng, in partnership with Yingli Mission Society, organized a program at the CMO Conference Hall Longleng. The theme "Let Communities Lead" guided discussions on the broader role of communities beyond traditional entities.

 

Dr. Samuel Akho Konyak, EAC Longleng Hq and in-charge Yongnyah, served as the special guest. He emphasized the extended definition of "community" to include schools, churches, and government departments, highlighting their pivotal roles in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

 

In legal aspects, P Monyei Phom, Panel Lawyer of the District Legal Services Authority, underscored the importance of legal support and awareness to combat discrimination related to HIV/AIDS.

  

M. Mano Phom, President of the Women Union, focused on the role of women, stressing the need for gender-sensitive approaches and empowerment.

 

C. Sham-e, General Secretary of the Phom Student Conference, emphasized the crucial role of youth in spreading awareness and breaking the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.

 

Lithei, Counselor DSRC, presided over the event.

Burnemla Alen Sungtok, DEO IDSP, highlighted the importance of community participation.

  

Dr. Lipok Phom, Medical Officer DH Longleng, provided medical insights into the challenges and progress related to World AIDS Day.

  

 M Nyampong Phom presented a musical performance.

  

C. Hampom, M&E, TI-NGO (Yingli Mission Society), expressed gratitude for collaborative efforts.

  

Chingkhong, Asst. Woman Pastor LTBC, led a Candle Light Vigil symbolizing unity and hope in the face of the HIV/AIDS challenge.
