The 75th Independence Day was celebrated at local ground Meluri Town on 26th January 2024.

The MLA, Kevipodi Sophie, graced the occasion as the Special Guest. He unfurled the National flag and took the Rashtriya salute from five parade contingents, namely St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Christian Mission Higher Secondary School, Government Higher Secondary School, Village Guard Meluri platoon, and VG Pipe Band Meluri. The parade commander for the contingents was ABSI Rupfutho Chizo, and the parade 2nd in command was Hav Pongrhong Konyak from F. Coy 5th NAP Meluri.

The MLA also inaugurated exhibition stalls displayed by five departments: Agriculture Department, Horticulture Department, NSRLM Meluri Block, NSRLM Weziho Block, and Nagaland Forest Management Project, Divisional Management Unit (DMU) Phek.

The day's highlights included folk dances performed by the Women Cultural troupe of Riehuope Village and the Men Cultural troupe of Meluri Village.
