The Finance Department of Nagaland has announced that Phase I of the Chief Minister’s Universal Life Insurance Scheme (CMULIS) is now available for beneficiaries of the Chief Minister's Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS). Eligible beneficiaries can log in to www.cmulis.gov.in to make any necessary modifications to their life and accidental insurance coverage. Phase II of the scheme will be launched later for families not covered by CMHIS.

The Chief Minister’s Universal Life Insurance Scheme (CMULIS) is designed to provide financial security for families in Nagaland. It will be implemented in two phases:
Phase I: For beneficiaries with a CMHIS ID and open for self-registration/verification. A total of 1.89 Lakh families are made eligible in Phase I.

Phase II: For families not covered by CMHIS. Phase II will be open for registration at a later date and NSRLM shall support public for registration at village level.

The key benefits are:

Life Insurance Coverage: Provides Rs 2 lakh coverage to family in case of the breadwinner's death from any cause.

Accidental Insurance Coverage: Rs 2 lakh coverage each for the breadwinner and three family members in case of accidental death or disability, for family members between age group 18-70.

Eligibility and Age Limit for Life Insurance Coverage for Breadwinner
In the General Category: Age 18 – 50 Breadwinner is expected to be the earning member of the family. The families are given the option to indicate any family member in the age group of 18-60 as breadwinner for the purpose of this scheme.

For Government Servants: Age 18 – 60 Government Servant till retirement is expected to be the earning member and breadwinner of the family and taken as the default breadwinner. The option to change breadwinners will not be available for government employee headed families.

How to Verify and Update Your Details


1. Log in to the Portal: Visit www.cmulis.gov.in and enter your CMHIS ID.
2. Verify Mobile Number: Confirm your registered mobile number using an OTP.
3. Check Family Details: View and confirm the details of your family members covered under the scheme.

4. Modify Breadwinner:

• Default: The head of the family is marked as a breadwinner.

• Change: Select another family member (if no government servant is present).

5. Modify Accidental Insurance Coverage:

• Default: The breadwinner and three eldest family members are covered.

• Change: Remove and add family members as needed.

6. Change Nominee for Claims:

• Default: Breadwinner is the nominee for others, and the next eldest is the nominee for the breadwinner.
• Change: Update nominee details as required.

Special Instructions

• Government Servants: Automatically marked as breadwinner cannot be changed.
• Expired Family Members: Update the portal if a family member has passed away to designate a new breadwinner.

• Opening Bank Accounts: The portal also offers provision to families that indicate members needing assistance for opening bank accounts. Special Camps will be conducted at a later date for bank account opening. These bank accounts will enable families to avail additional insurance coverage through PMJJBY and PMSBY.

The public have been advised not to respond to calls from any other number. There is no fee required for this process. You will never be asked for SMS details, bank details, or OTP. If you receive such calls, they are scams. Report them to the authorities immediately.
