As part of the International Youth Day, the District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) Kohima under the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) organised the second edition of the Marathon race - “Red Run” for Red Ribbon Club members of Kohima district was held on 12 th August 2024. It is an initiative to engage young people in a healthy lifestyle and physical activities to maintain health and reduce the risk of lifestyle diseases and HIV/AIDS. The race was flagged off by the Chief Medical Officer, Kohima, Dr. Leamnyie Konyak. The Chief Medical Officer emphasized the need to create awareness on HIV/AIDS and that prevention is the key to halting the epidemic. The race began from TCP Gate and culminated to Kohima Law College. Winners for the Kohima district Marathon Race as follows: In the male category, Sha S from Kohima College bagged the first, Jeet Bahadur from Sazole College and Martemsu Aier from St. Joseph's College (Autonomous) bagged second and third position respectively. In the female category, Hanthula T from Kros College bagged first while Z. Liyani Ezung from Don Bosco College and Kuthulu from Orientation College bagged second and third position Dr. Chibenthung Kithan, District AIDS Control Officer DAPCU presented the awards to the winners. The winners were presented with a certificate and cash prize of Rs.5000, Rs.3000 and Rs.2000 for both the male and female categories. Certificates were also awarded to all the participants. The 1 st Winners (both male and female) will represent Kohima district in the state level marathon race.
