The 78th Independence Day was celebrated at the public ground, Bhandari town, Wokha on 15th August 2024 with Advisor for Geology & Mining and DUDA, W. Chingang Konyak graced the day as Chief Guest. He unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute from 5 parade contingents that comprised of 7th NAP Bn. Bhandari, Government Higher Secondary School, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, 7th NAP unit School Bhandari and Montfort School Baghty. GHSS Bhandari sang the National anthem. ABI Tiatemjen Ao 7th NAP Bhandari was the Platoon Commander.
The Chief Guest accompanied by Achumbemo Kikon, MLA inaugurated exhibition stalls put up by 7th NAP Bn. CHC Bhandari, Sub District Industries Centre (SDIC) Bhandari, Eli VLO Yimarasa Village, Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) Bhandari and 7th NAP Family welfare.
Highlights of the programme included Sumi Cultural dance by Zuxushe Village male troupe, Cultural song by Sacred Heart Church, women group, Bhandari. Special songs presented by Nawl Tling Lian Roland from Witter Theological College, Vankhosung, Wokha and Amos Kikon of Yimpang village.
Community Health Centre (CHC) Bhandari in collaboration with the 45th Assam Rifle ‘F’ Coy held a free medical Camp and conducted blood tests, free health check-up and gave away medicines free of cost. Free registration for the CMHIS was also conducted. The Animals Husbandry and Veterinary department held an anti-rabies vaccination drive for domestic animals. Volleyball Exhibition match was played between 45thAR and BTSU.
