Along with the rest of the country, the Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench commemorated the 78th Independence Day on 15th August, 2024. Justice Kakheto Sema, Portfolio Judge for Nagaland hoisted the National Flag and took the ceremonial rashtriya salute. The solemn program was graced by the presence of Justice Mitali Thakuria, Judge Gauhati High Court, senior Government Counsels, office bearers and members from the High Court Bar Association, advocates, official dignitaries and employees of the Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench.

To mark the special occasion, refurbished computer sets were distributed to Grade-IV employees and contingency staff of Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench in acknowledgement of their noble services to the institution of justice. This unique initiative was undertaken under the vision of The Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court to promote computer literacy and is primarily intended for the benefit of the children and wards of Grade-IV employees and staff considering the necessity of IT knowledge and skills in the present day. The fully refurbished and ready-to-use computer sets were given away by Justice Kakheto Sema and Justice Mitali Thakuria in the presence of officials, advocates and family members of the employees. The program concluded with a sumptuous lunch for all attendees at the multi-purpose hall which was sponsored by the Registry of the High Court.
